The Word goes monthly

After several months of publishing news, opinions, and analysis on an as-it-comes basis, The Word is moving to a monthly publishing schedule.

The Word will publish on the first Thursday of the month each month beginning February 5, 2026.

Rather than just offer an article here and there, we’d like to offer a more delightful and thorough read, said Stacy Kess, chief of editorial for Equal Access Public Media, the organization that publishes The Word. A monthly publishing schedule allows us to be more innovative and try more things. But it will still allows us to focus on journalism and accessibility.

Kess said The Word also wants to make sure it is including news about professional organizations, unions, and local news outlets, and encourages those with news or events to send press releases to editor@the-word.news.

We really want to highlight what’s happening around the journalism community, especially if it involves accessibility, she added.
